Gui Zhi Tang is one of the most popular formulas to fight seasonal cold. When you have aversion to cold and want to drink or eat something warm, tight muscles on the back of the neck, runny nose and sore or scratchy throat- take this formula. It can help you prevent cold symptoms from getting worse and relieve discomfort and pain.
Indications:
Seasonal cold symptoms, including:
- Mild fever and chills unrelieved by sweating
- Headache
- Chills
- Runny nose or nasal congestion
- Aversion to cold and wind
- Stiff neck
- Nasal congestion
- Scratchy/sore throat
Ingredients:
Cinnamomi (ramulus) Cinnamon Twig
Paeoniae (radix), alba Chinese White Peony
Zingiberis (rhizoma) Ginger
Jujubae (fructus) Jujube Fruit
Glycyrrhizae (radix), Chinese Licorice Root, honey-fried
Pharmacological effects:

Directions:
Gui Zhi Tang should be used at the first sign of a cold, or during the first two days of cold symptoms. It is also used for cold-prevention when you exposed yourself to the windy and cold weather without good protection, or likely to be exposed to someone who is having seasonal cold.
Take recommended dose at the first sign of cold. The formula should be taken 3 times per day for 5 days even if symptoms are gone. The granules may be dissolved in hot water to serve as tea or mixed into yogurt.
Precautions:
- Contraindicated for those who has high fever and cough with yellow phlegm
- Use caution during the summer or spells of hot weather.
